Spray Tan Preparation

Before getting a spray tan, there are several important steps to ensure the best results and a comfortable experience

    1. Exfoliate

It's essential to exfoliate your skin thoroughly before getting a spray tan. This helps remove dead skin cells and creates a smooth surface for the tanning solution to adhere to. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub or loofah to scrub your entire body, paying extra attention to rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.

    2. Shave or Wax

If you plan to shave or wax, do so the night before your spray tan appointment. This allows your pores to close, reducing the likelihood of irritation or a spotty tan. The Spray Tan results are best when you shave, especially your legs as it leaves a blank canvas for the solution to be applied on.

    3. Moisturise

After exfoliating and shaving/waxing it is integral that you repair your kin barrier and use moisturiser. Focus on the dryest parts of your body such as elbows, knees, ankles.

    1. Shower

Take a shower a few hours before your tan appointment to allow your pores enough time to seal. This helps ensure the tanning solution adheres evenly to your skin.

    2. Avoid Deodorant, Perfumes, and Moisturizers

Do not apply any deodorant, perfumes, or moisturizers on the day of your tan appointment. These products can create a barrier that interferes with the tanning solution's absorption.

    3. Makeup

We suggest removing your makeup before your tan however, if you're unable to, it's okay as we can spray over light makeup without any issues.

    4. Use a Wet Towel if Short on Time

If you don't have time to shower before your appointment, the best solution is to use a wet towel to wipe yourself down. Avoid using wet wipes with chemicals and fragrances as they interfere with the tanning process and can cause the solution not to stick to the skin.

    5. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing

Choose loose-fitting, dark-colored clothing to wear to and from your spray tan appointment. Tight clothing can rub against your skin and cause the tan to rub off unevenly. We also provide disposable underwear and bras for you to wear for your appointment.

    6. Hair Preparation

Tie your hair back and wear the hair-net that we provide to protect it from the tanning solution.

    7. Avoid Rain

After your spray tan appointment, it is integral that you avoid rain getting on any part of your skin. Rain can cause spots in the tan that don’t always rinse off. Have a look at the forecast on the day of your appointment and bring an umbrella if needed!

    1. Shower

Ensure that you shower after the time instructed by your Spray Tan Artist. This could be as short as 20 minutes to 4 hours after your tan is applied. After your specific developing time, have a quick shower and do not use any soap. Do not be concerned if it seems that all of the tan colour has washed off, our tans develop over 12-24 hours.

    2. Moisturise Regularly

Keep your skin hydrated by applying a moisturiser daily. Opt for a hydrating lotion or cream without any harsh ingredients that could strip the tan. Moisturizing helps extend the life of your tan and keeps your skin looking healthy.

    3. Avoid Excessive Sweating

Try to avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense workouts or spending long periods in hot, humid environments. Sweat can cause the tan to fade more quickly.

    4. Avoid Chlorinated Water and the Ocean

Avoid swimming in pools with chlorinated or salt water, as chlorine and ocean water can bleach the tan and cause it to fade more quickly.

    5. Limit Exfoliation and Shaving

Avoid exfoliating and shaving your skin too frequently, as this can remove the outer layers of skin and fade the tan.

    6. Touch-Up as Needed

Depending on your lifestyle and how well you maintain your tan, you may need to touch up certain areas after a few days. Use a gradual tanning lotion or spray to even out any areas that have faded unevenly.
